(SINGLE REVIEW) NS YOON-G - Honey Summer
Who: NS Yoon-G
Genre: Pop
Single: Honey Summer
NS Yoon-G has always been a performer that for one reason or another, just hasn't grabbed the attention of the nation. She's talented enough, that's for sure, it just seems like she keeps getting either bogged down by larger acts with larger companies, or she's been given songs that just don't hit the public perfectly.
Unfortunately, this single will probably end up the same way as her others, which is such a shame. This song is cute, bubbly, and nice and easy to listen to. But there's something that I just can't "shake" (pardon the pun): this song sounds a lot like Sistar's "Shake It," which hasn't just already been released, it has taken over the charts. There's even a part where she does say "Shake it!" a few times, and it makes me cringe for her. If this song had been released even a few weeks earlier, this may have done really well for her.
"Honey Summer" isn't plagiarism of "Shake It," but it just has the same feel, and if someone were to go "I wonder what NS Yoon-G has released," they'd think they were listening to "Shake It" again at first.
Besides the similarity to "Shake It," I have no problems with "Honey Summer." In fact, I actually prefer it, since it doesn't necessarily sound almost exactly like a song she already did a year ago (Sistar, I'm looking at you).
Score: 2.5/3
