The summer queens are back, and something seems familiar...

SHAKE IT [TITLE]: I feel bad for expecting so much from Sistar after hearing this. But before I rip into it, let me say a few things. This song is a solid summer song. The beat is fantastic, their singing is on point, and it'll be played all over Korea during pool parties and on the beach. However great the song is though, the resemblance to their last summer song, "Touch My Body" cannot be ignored. It sounds like this song is just a different version of their hot song from last year, and I take issue with that, because they're too talented and too well-known to pull that. Yes, "Touch My Body" was a major hit, but coming back with essentially the same song a year later just isn't cool. It even comes with a really weird leg dance move like "Touch My Body." I mean, I do LIKE the song, but I can't help but feel more than a little annoyed. And it's not even the same writer/producer! See the music video below:

애처럼 굴지마 (feat. 기리보이): Straight into ballad territory we go! You can say a lot of Sistar, but the quality of their recording vocals is not one to be debated. And from what I understand, their live vocals can be quality at times as well. If it had been me producing this song, I would have had Giriboy do the only rapping in the song, since he's much stronger at it than any of the girls, but that's just me. Overall, this song is a nice filler song. Nothing overly special about it outside of Giriboy's feature. Which was pretty good, actually.

GOOD TIME: If you ask me, this could have been the title song. It's summery, and it doesn't sound like "Touch My Body" at all. All it really needs is a little more electro and less awkward rapping (or no rapping at all), and this song could have done well as a summer single. And even if it didn't win them any awards, I would have liked it better, since it didn't feel like a song they already did. This is a song you can listen to on a summer drive, for sure. Dance like nobody's watching, girls!

나쁜놈 (feat. 매드클라운): Definitely not a summer song. Nope. I'd say a winter ballad? Not that isn't a good thing, because for gosh golly's sake, this song shows off their talents better than any other song on this mini-album. I'm not a huge fan of Mad Clown's rapping style, but the tone of it fits the song, for sure. Gosh darn it, I want them to perform this on music shows rather than "Shake It." I really, really do. But I probably won't see them perform this for a while. And when it does, someone link me immediately. This is a good song to impress a live audience of skeptics. It can make anyone a fan of Sistar's, let's be honest. Even the female rapping part is good!

GO UP: I mentioned that "GOOD TIME" could have been a title song. But this one SHOULD have been the title. It not only has that summer feel, but it makes you want to get up (ha!) and dance. Or go for a run in the warm night. It's just an all around better song than "SHAKE IT" is. It literally sounds like all of the summer in a song, and it's such a shame they didn't capitalize on that. :(

Overall: A good summer album. It's a shame about the title song being so similar to a previous single of theirs, but hey, I wasn't in charge. There is no doubt that these girls are talented, and the fact that they can show that through dance songs as well as ballads without making me feel like I'm suffering from whiplash is impressive. There is no doubt this album will do well; SISTAR are the queens of summer dance tracks, for sure, but hopefully when/if they come back next summer, I won't feel like I'm listening to the same song from today or last year.

Least Favorite Song: 애처럼 굴지마 (feat. 기리보이)
