The eight girls of Nine Muses are back!

MUSE: What a beginning. This is the introductory song that other producers and groups should listen to. It doesn't just introduce the album in a big way, but it feels like an intro--not just a really short song, and it is such a tease. You want a beginning to grab the attention of the audience, regardless of the material, and believe me, this intro does it. It leaves me wanting more and to desperately finish writing about it so I can move on to the next song; THAT is what an introductory song is for! NOW GIVE ME THE NEXT SONG.

다쳐 (Hurt Locker) [TITLE]: At the very basics, this is a really good summer title track. This is a song that sounds like something a group from a large, powerful company would do really well with. It's fast-paced, fun, and it has a unique sound when compared to other idol summer releases so far. At this point, I'm going to say that I hope Nine Muses do well with this song, they deserve it, but I have no idea what their company has been doing with them up until now. I've heard some of their old stuff, and the music has been pretty consistently good, so I'm leaning towards thinking that their company just isn't managing them correctly. Nevertheless, I'll be rooting for them with this title track. Be sure to watch the music video too!

너란애: I'm not really sure how I feel about this song. While it does show the fact that the girls are talented, there's just something keeping me from really liking it. I don't know if it's because it feels a little too repetitive or if it's just the way the song sounds. I don't know. I can tell objectively that it's a good song, and the rapping near the end of this song is especially impressive (I know! I like a rap part! It's weird for me too!), but I just can't totally fall in love with it. What do you think about it?
Tell me what's wrong with me.

팬시 (Fancy): Something told me when I decided to review this mini-album that I would be saying this: what a fun song. It isn't complicated in the least, and it isn't my favorite off this album, but the sound is just simple fun. I really can't explain it with any other adjective. I imagine there's a dance that goes to this song, and I hope it's just as fun as the song, because even though it isn't my favorite (though once again, props to the Nine Muses rapper[s] for helping me regain the faith that not all idol rappers are hopeless), this song embodies simple, summer fun. It's not very "fancy" itself.

Yes or No: Though this song isn't the powerhouse song that the intro was (since after all there is an instrumental after this), it's the song on the mini-album that feels the slowest, and considering it isn't slow at all says something. I found my head bobbing along by the end of this song, that's something I didn't expect at all. The ending is a little awkward for me, as unless you're Freddie Mercury, I will never like vocal hangs ending a song, but overall, this is a cute way to end a strong mini-album.

Overall: I hope this mini-album garners some new fans for this group. Relatively speaking, they've been around for a while, and they have had their problems with stability both within the group and within their company, but hopefully this mini-album signals a stable group of eight girls acting as Nine Muses. I don't really know what their company is doing by not promoting this talent properly. They've been releasing and promoting strong stuff for a while, but they haven't really had the recognition they deserve. Hopefully, if this album doesn't immediately get them that attention, it puts them on the path to it.

Score: 4.7/5
