Hey. MADTOWN, thanks.
Watch the music video here!
I've been sitting here for at least five minutes trying to figure out not only how to start this review, but even how I felt about this song. On the one hand, it isn't that distinctive from other boy group releases as a whole, and the premise of the song certainly isn't new. However, there's something about this song that I like. The singing is good, some of the rapping is better than some other groups (including some groups that debuted long before MADTOWN, who, if you didn't know, are just a little over a year old as a group), and the music isn't bad (I'm a sucker for any music that isn't entirely electronic, even if that non-electronic bit sounds really familiar--I promise you I've heard it somewhere). I'm just stuck, to be honest.
It really isn't a distinct single. You could even say it hasn't made me say "Oh my God, thanks" (terrible joke, I know), but at the same time, I haven't turned it off yet. Maybe I'll listen to this group's other stuff to get a better idea of how I feel about this song and about them. Perhaps that was their plan. I don't know. All I know is that I think it isn't unpleasant to listen to. And for a really young group from a company that isn't drowning in money, I'd say they're pretty good. I'll be interested to see where they go and how they grow as a group.
I suppose the best way to describe the way I feel about the song is through telling a little bit about myself: I don't usually pay a lot of attention to rookie boy groups. For whatever reason,in the last few years or so, at the beginning of their careers (the first few singles) all boy groups run together in my head. But these guys have pressed fondly into my memory. I'll look forward to their future, and maybe (MAYBE) become a fan. Who knows?
I'd also like to point out that I can think of a few better ways for the music video than it actually did.
Score: 2.3/3
